In November of 2018 my son, Jordan, was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer. After a two and a half year journey with the disease he died on March 8, 2021. I spent his last night at his bedside administering comfort meds and a mother’s love. I was his Death Doula that last night before I even knew what a Death Doula was. I consider this walk with him one of my greatest honors. When he informed his father and me that he was dying the next thing he said to me was, “Promise me Momma that you are going to take care of yourself”. That has been my mantra since his death and led me to become a Certified Death Doula through the University of Vermont in 2021. I honestly believe I have found my true calling and purpose. Dearest Jordan, your legacy will be my transformation.
